Vehicle | 2000 Honda HRV AWD Manual I have an idea to convert a Honda HRV AWD manual to rear wheel electric and leaving the front wheel drive intact including the motor as it normally only uses front wheel drive till you loose traction ( 4WD is Hydraulically activated so easy to disable ) so I will remove the rear drive shaft shorten it and attach the electric motor to it its diff has a low ratio of about 4.5 to 1 perfect for a AC55 In electric mode petrol motor off and in neutral electric motor driving rear wheels only It has plenty of room and clearance underneath the rear to accommodate the electric motor batteries , charger and controller , It would be a sort of hybrid drive upto 60 to 100ks on battery then turn on the petrol motor to go longer distances but retain the regenerative braking of the electric motor to recharge the batteries a bit.
Motor | Azure Dynamics/Solectria AC55 3-Phase AC The Azure Dynamics AC55 with DMOC445 Drive System features the Azure AC55 motor mounted in an axial design. This single motor directly drives the differential, typically via a short driveshaft. Because of the direct drive layout, the drive unit fits into the area formerly occupied by the traditional drive shaft of delivery vans, trucks, etc., making vehicle conversions fast and easy. Applications & Features In battery-EV applications, the AC55 and DMOC445 drives are designed for use in vans, trucks and buses weighing from 5,000 to 11,000 lbs. The motor is of a low-speed design for a typical 3-5:1 overall vehicle drive ratio. AC induction motor Air-cooled High-efficiency brushless design Compact, lightweight construction Low rotating losses Low electrical resistance Cost effectiveness and high reliability Because it is used in conjunction with an Azure DMOC motor controller, the AC55 can function as an electronic transmission, eliminating the need for a multi-speed gearbox in some applications, directly driving the vehicles wheels
Drivetrain | Honda HRV Petrol the motor is very light all alloy around 100kg I can lift one np it will power the vehicle driving the front wheels after the battries get down to 80%. The electric motor will drive the rear wheels of the vehicle for the first 100 miles or so. The whole car weighs 1150kg and it has a load capacity of around 600kg so weight won't be a problem its a SUV remember and I can still drive it around while I convert it with a lot less work involved to the only thing that has to be made is the tail shaft every thing else just bolts or wired together once the electric motor is mounted I'll just drive the HRV around to a Tail shaft specialist and get them to fit a custom made one np.
Controller | Azure Dynamics/Solectria DMOC445 DMOC445 Digital Motor Controller Azures DMOC445 is a DSP-controlled, rugged, waterproof (except for cooling fans) inverter for controlling 3-phase AC motors and generators. Liquid-cooling is available. DSP-based control Regenerative braking Space Vector PWM and Field Oriented Control Internal contactor with precharge circuitry Speedometer driver for some dashboard displays/gauges (such as VDO) and brake light enable Lightweight aluminum chassis Waterproof, rugged construction Trenchgate IGBTs for maximum efficiency Over voltage and under voltage protection Three-level over current protection >10kHz DSP-based current control >Analog over current watchdog >Desat protection at gate level Inverter over temperature protection Motor over temperature protection Over speed torque limit Invalid pedal signal detection RS232 for diagnostics and data visualization CAN for communications with other components

DC/DC Converter | Azure Dynamics/Solectria DCDC750BC12: 200-400V Input, 13.5V Output The Azure Dynamics battery charging DC-DC converter will accept a maximum input voltage range of 200 to 400 volts (V), and provides a continuous 750 watt (W) 13.5VDC output to your 12V battery and 12V systems. This unit must be used with a 12V battery. Applications & Features In addition to all of the qualities of the conventional line of Azures DC-DC converters, the battery charging DC-DC converter has these added capabilities: The battery charging DC-DC converter charges and maintains the 12V battery while powering the vehicles 12V accessory system. The battery charging DC-DC converter can adjust its current output to accommodate the charging requirements of the battery. Unlike standard converters, the battery charging DC-DC converter can operate in parallel with another battery charging converter to handle systems with higher power load demands. The battery charging DC-DC converter has a thermal management system to protect the unit from damage due to excessive operating temperatures
