I'm in the process of finishing this project while I wait for parts for my electric bike. I had originally got the 6.5hp 48 volt Leeson motor for an electric moped project but never could find just the right moped. One day my neighbor offered me his old walk behind landscapers mower and this project came to me. The part you stand on used to be where the ICE engine used to sit and a huge mowing deck with 3 blades came out from the front of that (cut that off). It was nice because the pulleys were already on the wheels and everything just seemed to fit nicely. The controller is 36 volt 275 amp golf cart controller. I'm only using 24 volts- 2 12volt 18ah batteries. It's very torque-y and I've taken it up to about 15 mph- and that about as fast as I want to go "standing up", it's a lot of fun, the kids take their bikes and I'll follow them with this- suppose I look like a complete geek I especially with the helmet and all but thats all part of the fun.
