Owner's Other EV | Skegway |
Location | Woonsocket, Rhode Island United States map |
Vehicle | Older Italian made bike |
Motor | Bosch EV warrior motor set up Permanent Magnet DC Found a used EV Warrior motor on ebay. Mounted under the baby seat with a custom made bracket (thanks to my neighbor who welded it up for me)- pivots down when accelerating to engage the wheel and pops up when free wheeling. |
Drivetrain | 12 speed |
Controller | Curtis 1505 Seems to be very stable- tempted to run it at 36v to see what happens. |
Batteries | 2, 24.00 Volt, Lead-Acid, AGM using 2 "half U1" wheelchair batteries at 18 ah |
System Voltage | 24 Volts |
Charger | el chepo generic 24v smart charger does the job |
Heater | none |
DC/DC Converter | none |
Instrumentation | 0-10 "accelerator" potentiometer on/off switch |
Top Speed | 20 MPH (32 KPH) Due to the very skinny tires (and all the weight) this thing does not feel very stable at 20+ MPH- cruses very comfortably at 7-12 MPH. |
Acceleration | If I adjust the bracket to dig into the tire more = better but then I lose the top end speed. |
Range | Just finnished it but I did take it out one day and went about 15 miles before the batteries gave out (lots of hills and acceleration) |
Seating Capacity | 1 adult, 1 child |
Curb Weight | 0 Too heavy! |
Tires | 27 inch |
Conversion Time | 3 weeks working in the evening on and off. |
Conversion Cost | Total $250 (first project - had to buy everything- lots of runs to the hardware store. |
Comments and suggestions welcome, this is the first ev for me. My rear rims is already bent I guess I should have done this to a sturdier bike! |
