Motor | Advanced DC Series Wound DC 6.7 ADC 8 brush. Salvaged from a forklift pump motor. My 16 year old son and I spent 2 days during spring break 2007 rebuilding this motor at Jim Husted's shop. Click on the WebPage link above to see the motor being built.
Controller | Cafe Electric Zilla 1K Currently running at 96volts and 1000 amps. My Logisystems controller finally gave up the ghost and I was able to purchase a lightly used Zilla 1K which is what I always wanted for this truck. The Zilla's were out of production when I bought the Logisystems controller.
Batteries | 4 45 Volt Chevy Volt Modules, 45.00 Volt, Lithium-Ion Two strings of 90 volts in parallel.
System Voltage | 90 Volts
Charger | Chinese Lithium bike battery chargers I custom ordered 4 - 6 amp CCCV chargers set to 49.8 volts cutoff (4.15 volts per cell) from chinagreentime@gmail.com. I also have two SE 1072 Shumachers that I have been using for years.
Heater | 2 cheap 120v ceramic cores from space heaters wired in parallel. They draw about 22 amps total which works out to roughly 2000 watts of heat.
DC/DC Converter | Meanwell SD-500H-12
Instrumentation | HB 404 DC AH Meter My Evision is glitching and no longer reads my pack voltage correctly, so I have replaced it. All other functions still seemed fine. Evision I have one of the first units from www.metricmind.com. It is a very high quality EV specific instrument. You should seriously consider getting one.

Additional Features | I originally built this with an Alltrax 7245 72 volt 450 amp controller. The performance was adequate, but the Logisytems controller makes it quite peppy and a lot of fun. It's higher voltage limit also allowed me to stuff a few more cells in my battery boxes. 90 cells are as many as will fit which raises me up to 108 volts. Now I am onto a Zilla which is great and the pack has been reduced back down to 96 volts which still gives me plenty of performance. |
