---|---|---|---|---|---|
Location | Los Angeles Area, California United States map | ||||
Vehicle | 1975 Porsche 914 Originally 2.0 liter with "appearance" package | ||||
Motor | Azure Dynamics/Solectria AC24 3-Phase AC | ||||
Drivetrain | Manual transmission - rebuilt with a slight reduction in the gearing to help on large hills. | ||||
Controller | Azure Dynamics/Solectria DMOC445 | ||||
Batteries | 52 CALB/Skyenergy 100Ah, 3.20 Volt, Lithium Iron Phosphate | ||||
System Voltage | 144 Volts | ||||
Charger | Manzanita Micro PFC-20 w/buck enhancement | ||||
Heater | Canadian EV Heater kit hacked into the original fresh air box. Works really well. | ||||
DC/DC Converter | Need to replace - I am converting from 144V Lead Acid to ~180 V Lithium and that will push the DC/DC outside its allowed range. | ||||
Instrumentation | Analog current and voltmeter. Paktrakr installed (failed) | ||||
Top Speed | 75 MPH (120 KPH) That's as fast as I've taken it yet, but I don't think there is much more available. | ||||
Acceleration | OK, but will not set any records... | ||||
Range | 70 Miles (112 Kilometers) This is something of a guess for what the car would do comfortably on flat land. I live in the mountains and need to save about 50% of the batteries for the last mile to my house. | ||||
EV Miles |
| ||||
Seating Capacity | 2 adults | ||||
Curb Weight | 2,850 Pounds (1,295 Kilograms) Still a guess. Hopefully I can get it on a scale soon. | ||||

Conversion Time | ~3 years (work has been crazy) | ||||
Conversion Cost | ~$20k | ||||
Additional Features | - 911 Front Brakes - Front sway bar - Full roll cage (to help stiffen up the center of the car) - Leather racing seats - Four point racing harness - Saratoga top (clear acrylic) - Power windows - Four speaker stereo (main speakers in stock location, extra tweeters mounted in door) - Bluetooth speaker phone - LED lighting for turn signals, brake lights, etc. - Converted side markers into both running lights and turn signals - Third brake light on engine compartment (from '89 Corvette) | ||||
Car off the road after the emergency brake failed and it rolled out of the driveway, across the street and into a tree. Damage to the body was minimal, but battery acid went everywhere... Damage repaired and new paint job complete. J1772 adapter added behind the rear license place (which is now on a hinge). Ordered Manzanita Micro battery boxes and am working on the layout now. Hope to have the car on the road again late summer of 2012. |
