Currie motor was not standard but replaced earlier motor that stopped working. When I opened that old motor, I knew what the problem was and saw the same issue on the new motor: the wires entered the motor in the front, catching rain water which could not exit and damaged motor and (built-in) controller. To prevent this with the new motor, I rotated it 1/3 so the wires are at the bottom. I need to add lights, fenders and good weather-protection for the controller. With the 24V battery, lights should not be a problem. I am thinking about upgrading the battery to larger capacity, though it is also good to get a workout and to keep pedaling - that is a free range extender! |
