The original Zapi controller would energize the motor field to provide regenerative braking. This took a lot of contactors and would get the controller hot. Unfortunately it failed causing the motor to lock during regen once. Zapi did not respond to repair requests. The DCP 1200 Raptor uses mosfets we do not trust at 144 Volt. Plan to have it switched for an IGBT DCP controller sometime. Originally used twenty T-125 batteries with a system voltage of 120 Volts. The addition of 4 batteries and using T-145s did a lot for performance and range. The 4 batteries were added under hood, total there are 8 under hood now, and 16 under bed. |
