This is a 1967 VW Beetle that was converted previously to a pickup truck. I purchased it and converted it to electric, spending over $11K overall. Upgrades include disk brakes front and rear, heavy duty suspension, new wheels and tires, new clutch, plus so much more I cannot remember. I used the car for about a year before the DCP Raptor shown in the pictures died. I purchased a factory rebuilt controller from Curtis, but never got around to installing it. I will complete installation before sale so potential buyers may test drive the car. Battery pack is still in good shape (18 x 8 volt = 144 volt total)and is about 2 years old. All major electricals were new when installed. Advanced DC 9" FB-4001A motor, PFC-20 charger, DCP DC/DC converter. These 3 components alone just about equal the sales price. There are still some unfinished items on this vehicle, and a few things that need to be redone, so this EV is best for someone who likes to tinker a bit. Some of the battery tie downs should be replaced, the headliner is absent, though I have a new one in the box ready to be installed, and the heater never made it in. I never needed the heater and I live in the mountains. Just wear a jacket! The roof and a few other small spots need to be painted to match the rest of the vehicle, but no hurry. This EV is a lot of fun, and I can guarantee there is not another one like it in the world. You will be gawked at wherever you go. It is a great errand vehicle or short commuter. I drove it daily to school and back, a 20 mile round trip, with no noticable decrease in performance. It will do 70 on the flat, but the car has the usual vintage VW rattles. The tachometer was designed to work with the DCP Raptor, so it will require a separate pickup to make it work with the Curtis. Includes a quality Sony AM/FM Cassette stereo system and a tow bar for short trips. (I recommend a 2 wheel dolly or trailer be rented for long distance transport). There is also a tonneau cover for the rear bed. I actually hate to let go of this car, so I have stalled placing this ad, but other hobbies and responsibilities dictate that I pass it on to someone who will use it more than I now do. |
