I now live in a place where I have to turn left onto a fast road (and this is slow), so I am thinking of selling this truck, or converting it to higher voltage. Batteries | 20 Interstate U2300, 6.00 Volt, Lead-Acid, Flooded I have been told that the batteries are on their way out and that is why the truck is slow. I have said I think it needs a higher voltage. The batteries are charging to at least 6.54 volts per unit. |

This truck is old and slow. For it's age it is in pretty good condition, but as I said it is slow. I am pondering selling this truck, or converting it to 144 volts. The Motor, Controller and Charger (Needs to be sent in and adjusted) will handle this voltage. I am also considering changing the batteries to 8V golf cart batteries as this will increase voltage without any hardware modification, and also save 130 lbs in weight. The bed is also very heavy as it is thick steel double wall, so I may remove that and put on a light weight aluminum / ceder flat bed. These changes would save about 400 lbs weight and add much needed boost to acceleration. Another modification I may do if I keep this vehicle is to change the 35 PSI wheels to a skinnier higher pressure tire to reduce rolling resistance. |
