Owner | Lachlan Maclean |
---|---|
Location | Kallista, Victoria Australia map |
Vehicle | 1991 Toyota Corolla Sedan Was a registered, roadworthy car until I got the spanners to it |
Motor | Advanced DC X 91 Series Wound DC 6.7" dia motor |
Drivetrain | FWD Manual |
Controller | Curtis 1231c |
Batteries | 45 Thunder Sky 90ah, 3.20 Volt, Lithium-Polymer |
System Voltage | 144 Volts |
Charger | From EV Power Puts in about 15amps at 145Volts up to 165V. Charge drops back to 3amp somewhere near 160V |
Heater | Gloves |
Instrumentation | Digital Ammeter and Voltmeter. Motor case temperature. |
Top Speed | Never tried for a top speed. Drives comfortably in 80Km/Hr zones. Will go faster - but not uphill |
Acceleration | I keep it low to conserve batts. I dont like the current going over 200amps. |
Range | Was getting 70km in very hilly terrain. Have had some battery issues and havent tried a big range. I drive 26km to work up and down some big hills. Put an hour of charge as a top up at work and drive home with capacity to spare |
Seating Capacity | 5 2 in front and three in back. But its a Corolla so I wouldnt |
Tires | Back tyres are whatever. Fronts are Michelin low resistance. I noticed a difference when I put them on. |
Conversion Cost | 18000-20000 including the car. |
Additional Features | I know what Id like but it drives and I have other projects which fill my days. Id love to blow some of that lovely motor heat onto me and the windscreen in winter. |
It was a great car to convert. I probably should have used the next motor up the power list. 8" but same bolt pattern. Battery equalization is a pain. I really need to check all cells every week at the end of charging and individually charge cells which are down a bit. I need a 5 to 10 amp switch off at 3.7 volt charger. |
