Motor | Advanced DC 203-06-4001, 8 Series Wound DC This baby weighs 107 lbs. Complete professional rebuild January 2018 due to bad brush holder.
Drivetrain | Manual Transaxle, Front Wheel Drive, standard clutch
Controller | Curtis 1221C The little black box
Batteries | 15 US Battery B GC, 8.00 Volt, Lead-Acid, Flooded These guys weigh about 70 lbs each
System Voltage | 120 Volts
Charger | Zivan NG3 120 VAC in, 120 VDC out
Heater | 1500 watt ceramic heater installed in place of traditional heater core
DC/DC Converter | Zivan NG1 Keeps the aux battery charged
Instrumentation | I added an analog voltmeter and an ammeter in place of fuel gauge and temperature gauge.
Top Speed | 65 MPH (104 KPH) This was my design criteria and this speed was achieved on 5/9/2009. I've gone at least 75 MPH.
Acceleration | I'm pleased. If I'm starting out or going uphill, I'll put it in first to begin and shift to 2nd after I'm rolling. Can shift to 3rd if going on the interstate highway and no hills.
Range | 30 Miles (48 Kilometers) This was my design criteria, and it has proven to be nearly the limit. I use the trip odometer as a "fuel gauge" and rarely look at the voltage or amp gauges.
EV Miles |
| ||
Seating Capacity | 5 adults
Curb Weight | 3,120 Pounds (1,418 Kilograms) The car weighs 700 lbs more after the conversion than befoe.
Tires | FEDERAL 175/65 R14 82H M&S. I've got 4 of 'em
Conversion Time | 12 months
Conversion Cost | less than $10K
Additional Features | I did my conversion in the driveway and didn't move the car for 10 months. I never put the car in the garage because there was not enough room to do so. Working space was limited to the single car garage. Replaced the carpeting and may do seat covers. Might even paint the car! 9/16/09 Painted the car blue and haven't done the seat covers yet. Will soon see how effective the heater is as our weather is changing. Check my blog which chronicles my journey. WebPage
It took a lot of time and effort but it's worth it. It's 2014 now and I have just replaced all the batteries. Its a new car now. Now it's 2016 and I'm ready to move on from this car to other projects. THE CAR IS FOR SALE. $3,500. 2018 and still for sale. |
