Owner | Bob Hill |
---|---|
Location | Round Rock, Texas United States map |
Vehicle | 1987 Honda Hurricane CBR600F Stripped down CBR600F - I like the open-bottom frame, gave me more freedom in choosing how to mount my batteries. Currently has no plastic body parts, that will only change if I happen to find a set cheap. |
Motor | Briggs and Stratton Etek-RT Series Wound DC |
Drivetrain | Chain |
Controller | Alltrax AXE 7234 |
Batteries | 4, 12.00 Volt, Lead-Acid, Gel Originally intended for it to be a 72V bike, cut back to 48V to increase the likelihood of it ever getting finished. After it is complete, I may very well add the other two batteries (all the electronics are good for 72V) |
System Voltage | 48 Volts |
Charger | Deltran 4 battery BMS system The other advantage of only going 48V is the charger is way cheaper. |
Heater | none |
DC/DC Converter | none- I have a dedicated battery for the other electronics |
Top Speed | 45 MPH (72 KPH) Though my original intent was to go 70, currently the bike has been scaled back to only 48V |
Range | 20 Miles (32 Kilometers) Just an estimate |
Seating Capacity | 2 adults |
Curb Weight | 680 Pounds (309 Kilograms) Estimated, the motor and batteries are roughly the same weight as the removed ICE and exhaust system |
Tires | 2 |
Conversion Time | to date: 60 hours The bike was in ok shape, but was 21 years old so very dirty and rusty. I have stripped it, repainted it, and I am in the process of re-assembling it. update: after getting the bike pretty, it sat for a while as I tried to work out the title with the original owner (no luck). I got help with the engine mount, which inspired me to get working again. Add another 90 hours in getting all the mechanical parts installed. |
Conversion Cost | to date: $285 $100 donor bike, paint, tools and new wheel bearings. about to purchase the motor and controller this week. update: Price has jumped significantly, up to about $2100 for parts and the donor bike. This included the motor, controller and batteries. |
Though Duracell does not make batteries that would work for our vehicles, I liked the colors so the paint scheme is copper on black. |
