Vehicle1987 Nissan B-21 pickup
Found this truck on Craig's list. Owner did not want to do a tune-up so I was able to purchase for $800.

Top Speed55 MPH (88 KPH)
Top speed so far is 55mph. Did this in a 50 mph zone so did not try to go higher.
AccelerationNot enough to appease those behind me in a hurry.
Range70 Miles (112 Kilometers)
I have not pushed it to the limit yet. This estimate is based on the fact that it is 7 miles to work and my battery pack is down 8% or so when I get to work.
Watt Hours/Mile600 Wh/Mile
I calculate about 600Whr/mile in my daily commute. At 7c per KWhr here in Washington, that works out to 4c/mile. Much better than the 17c/mile my truck is getting?

    As of 2/20/2012
Seating Capacity2-1/2
Curb Weight3,600 Pounds (1,636 Kilograms)
Started with a curb weight of 2600 lbs and added about 1300 lbs of batteries. I estimate 3600 lbs but have not weighted it yet.
TiresStandard - those that came with the truck (TOYO)
Conversion TimeAbout 4 months, but most of that was waiting for kit. Electro-automotive in California was extremely slow. It took them 12 weeks to machine the adapter.
Conversion Cost$10,500 with the $800 for the truck.
Additional FeaturesAlthough the kit came with a DC-DC converted I also put is a 12-V charger. The converter is on a switch to I can change between the two. I also had to add helper springs just to be on the safe side.
This was fun project and I am getting lots of comments. The best, however, is that I have reduced by carbon footprint by 25%! for just 10 grand.
