Vehicle | 2007 Reva G-Wiz AC Reva electric car sold in the UK as the G- Wiz.
Motor | Kirloskar Electric Co Ltd 3-Phase AC 52 Nm and 8000 RPM, gear ratio 9.4:1 reduction onto rear axle. Located under rear seats.
Drivetrain | AC motor mounted on rear axle and directly coupled. No clutch or gears (apart from fixed reduction), although the agents describe it as being automatic.
Batteries | 8 Trojan T125 200 Amp-hours, 6.00 Volt, Lead-Acid, Flooded Batteries located under the front seats and along the sills down the sides of the rear footwells.
System Voltage | 48 Volts
Charger | On-board charger from 240 Volt 13 Amp socket (UK standard domestic socket)
Heater | Electric heater in ducts for screen demist and compartment warming, also optional heated seats.
DC/DC Converter | Two converters - one for general purposes and the other for the climate-controlled seats which can be set to heat or cool. Apparantly it's more energy efficient to control the seats that to run the A/C (optional) or heater (standard).
Instrumentation | The speedo itself and SoC meter are analogue but the odometer is digital and has the facility to record 2 elapsed distances. The dash lights are: o On-charge. o Low battery. o Service light. o Regen (green) / extra-power (red) o Encoder fault (used to determne motor position for the AC controller) o Low battery water o Neutral indicator o Parking brake engaged / low brake fluid. o Temperature (high or low) o High beam o Dipped beam o Indicators
Top Speed | 45 MPH (72 KPH) Limited in controller. The hardware is capable of faster speeds but is limited in the interests of range. Future Li-Ion battery pack claimed to be capable of significantly greater speeds and range with same drivetrain.
Acceleration | Modest, but better than original DC version of same vehicle. Controller in both models has 2 forward modes giving the choice of greater acceleration at the expense of reduced range.
Range | 48 Miles (77 Kilometers) But depends of drive style, ambient temperature, use of electrical accessories etc etc
Watt Hours/Mile | 341 Wh/Mile Measured as total energy drawn from mains while charging dividing by lifetime vehicle mileage.
EV Miles |
| ||||
Seating Capacity | 2+2 | ||||
Curb Weight | 1,465 Pounds (665 Kilograms)
Tires | Low rolling resistance on 13" wheels
Conversion Time | Made that way
Additional Features | Mine has optional alloy wheels and climate-controlled seats. A/C also available (but I would suggest not really required in the UK) along with rather gaudy colour-wraps for leopard or tiger body patterns. Apparantly the best-selling electric car world-wide. There are around 1,000 in the UK.
