Controller | Evnetics Soliton 1 Great folks and very good customer service. They answered tons of questions and seemed to enjoy it in the process. The controller works great. |
Batteries | 76 CALB/Skyenergy 180 ah, 3.40 Volt, Lithium Iron Phosphate Four battery packs - three located under bed and one behind the front seat. |
System Voltage | 260 Volts |
Charger | Elcon PFC5000 Works but pretty much the low point of my project. I had trouble with the charger recognizing 115 volts. I called the company in California and asked what I could do... they said xxxx was wrong and to ship it in. I had to pay for shipping both ways and they charged me $50 to check it out. To top it off the charger had to set for more than a week because the one person who chould check it was on vacation. Very, Very Sorry customer service. |
Heater | I replaced the water coil in the dash with a ceramic element. |
DC/DC Converter | 170-300V 45 amp Chennic DC converter from EV West. Works fine |
Instrumentation | Lots of them... A Xantrex LinkPro and Zeva Fuel Gauge Plus (not functional yet) from EV West. I also added an EMW EV Android Dashboard from Electric Motor Werks. The EV Android Dashboard is working through my ASTEROID Smart by Parrot which is a two din in dash unit. |
Top Speed | 90 MPH (144 KPH) Been to 90 so far... would have done more but I really didn't want the ticket. |
Acceleration | I will clock later |
Range | 100 Miles (160 Kilometers) I am estimating 80 miles. The max I have been so far is 40 miles between charges |
Seating Capacity | S10 extended cab. Used to seat 3 but I put the charger where the jump seat used to be |
Tires | Stock wheels with Michelin low roll resistance tires. |
Conversion Time | Started phase one (basic conversion) of this conversion during Thanksgiving weekend 2012. Had my first drive in June. I worked lots of weekends but not too many nights after work. This included massive non-EV work to the truck... bakes, shocks, ball joints, etc Started Phase two (interior) in July. I expect to have it finished in October. This includes sound deadening material, carpet new seats, heater core changeout and permanent installation of gauges in dash. Phase Three will be a good paint job, new wheels and new tires. It will start so I have it all completed by Thanksgiving.. So, One year total |
Conversion Cost | Approx 30K |
Thanks goodness for the internet and all of the information folks have shared... A summation of resources and products: EV West - Matt and Michael are great folks, extremely helpful and had reasonable prices for top quality products. EVWEST.COM Canadian Electric Vehicles - Randy has great products and very good service. The motor adapter from them fit and worked great. CANEV.COM Finish Master - these folks did a great job of matching my dash paint. EV America - Bob was very helpful and sold me the original conversion kit. It was reasonably priced and he has a great instruction manual. At the time he wasn't really into Lithium batteries so I went else where for the batteries and charger. EVAMERICA.COM EVTV - a ton of very good information if you have time to listen to a very long video. Some good products but mostly good info. EVTV.ME Elcon Chargers - Works on 230 but does not work on 130. Sent it back to the factory and they said it worked fine.... got it back and it does not work and NO customer support to make it work. VERY, VERY, VERY poor customer service from these folks... the ONLY problem on the entire conversion. I would NOT buy any product from these guys... ever... ELCONCHARGERS.COM Bartuning, Inc - Houston. This is THE place in Houston for repairs and upgrades of high quality, high performance vehicles. They love their work and loved the challenges I brought them with my electric conversion. www.bartuning.com J1772 Active Vehicle Control - nice little circuit board I purchased from EV West. This module allows me to use J1772 and it automatically turns the charge station on. Get one... |
