Location | Phoenix, Arizona United States map
Vehicle | 1993 Ford escort station wagon Soleq Evcort station wagon
Motor | General Electric Separately Excited DC
Drivetrain | GE Sepex motor, Curtis controller for field, Rheostat & braking resistor for armature.
Controller | Curtis for field plus rheostat & braking resistor for armature.
Batteries | 18 Trojan TE-35, 6.00 Volt, Lead-Acid, Flooded 245Ah capacity @ 20hr rate (26.5kwh pack) 200Ah capacity @ 5hr rate Theoretically our capacity at usage rate (of 1 hr max) is likely around 160Ah giving total pack available energy of 17.3kwh.
System Voltage | 108 Volts
Charger | Soleq multi-level charger 120V input charger with 16A, 20A and 30A rate charge options. At 30A rate it will charge a fully depleted pack (NEVER let your pack get fully depleted!) in under 8 hrs. Typical charge time is 2-4 hrs.
Heater | None (its Arizona)
DC/DC Converter | Iota 40A DC-DC
Instrumentation | working on this still... factory gauges died when the factory controller died! Have westech analog voltage and amperage meters ready to be wired up.
Top Speed | 65 MPH (104 KPH) Set up with a Rheostat that has adjustable resistance (though not on the fly, have to park to change under the hood) for the max field current and a 30 ohm braking resistor which is on a relay and can be put in series with the rheostat at the push of a button, doing this increases resistance and decreases field current: allowing for higher RPM (flip the switch over 2000RPM to go highway speeds of 4000RPM, 70MPH)
Acceleration | SLOW but with sepex set-up in this car it would be MUCH stronger d/t to the ability to vary/control the field current simultaneously with the armature current. Would be more efficient as well.
Range | 40 Miles (64 Kilometers) estimate, after 20 miles trip pack voltage was ~112.6V (108 nominal) or ~2.09 VPC.
Watt Hours/Mile | 420 Wh/Mile Lifetime average b/c the car has a watt- hour meter built into it and odometer!

Conversion Time | Bought it this way. Have spent many hours on repairs and battery swap...
Conversion Cost | Still going up! |
