Top Speed | 30 MPH (48 KPH) We are ramping up to test the frame, handling, motor temp, police, brakes, and the unknown. So far weve been over 20 mph several times on one mile test rides
Acceleration | The geared motor is peppy. It is small so we are kind to it so far.
Range | 30 Miles (48 Kilometers) Not sure. We went with the large batteries in hope of getting good range.
EV Miles |
| ||||
Seating Capacity | 1 adult
Curb Weight | 70 Pounds (31 Kilograms) This is a guess. The batteries weigh 44 lbs.
Tires | 26 inch hybrid rear. 20 inch bmx front. Both about 2 inches wide.
Conversion Time | took about a month to source parts and build the stretch cycle
Conversion Cost | Parts cost about 700 dollars
Additional Features | The stretch cycle started as a magna 26 inch mountain bike and 20 inch huffy bmx bike. It has a battery mount section the middle. We reused parts from both donor bikes but sourced new parts when necessary or to be kool. The amped bike geared hub motor is powerful when fed 52 volts through the 22 amp controller. The long frame is stable and smooth to ride. The tiller steering takes some getting used to. The chains are adjusted correctily now and needed a second shimano deraileur to tension the front section. We are ready for a long test ride now. We just need a chase vehicle with a video camera and a nice day.
The welding and grinding is the only dirty part. the fabrication and imagination part was fun. The amped bike parts were easy to install and worked correctly right out of the box. You would probably want to keep upgrading the brakes because the bike is capable of high speed and is a bit heavy with the 44 lb battery box. A good helmet is a good idea. We have a 72 volt 45 amp controller from ecrazyman.com. We plan to upgrade the voltage and possibly add a trike rear end. A seat back might be a nice addition. We found an ebay site to get custom decals including stretch cycle words and lightning bolts. www.thegreenscenev.com Ed Storey 503-539-9612 |
