I wanted something a bit on the wild side so I took a perfectly working Wavecrest TidalForce I/O Step-Thru bike and stripped all the Wavecrest parts off of it and put them on a custom-made stretched-out beach cruiser frame. The frame builder, who was recommended by Roderick Wilde, builds great custom bicycle frames. I removed the rear gear cluster and made it a single speed, more or less to keep it simple and added a rear disc brake that I created using e-machine.com software. The frame is shot with a couple coats of flat black Rustoleum paint. Because the bike is so stretched out I had to use tandem bike parts including the chain and brake cable. The tires are big 26 x 3.00 wide Kenda tires that have a flame tread pattern. The bike is a breeze to ride and very comfortable. Great for cruising around on a hot day. It gets quite a bit of attention. |
