-Earlier-Have driven over 1000 miles so far. SSSaturn is doing well. One issue is the battery charger. Takes too long to charge. If the pack is discharged a lot it takes over 12 hours to charge. I may need to get a different charger or a 240 charger. Charger has been repaired, works better now. Will start using an overnight 240ac charger soon. Driving in 5 degree f weather, pouring rain and snow. She likes warm days much better. Heater works good but uses ALOT of energy. UPDATE: over 5,000 EV miles working great, drive every day, fill batteries every 2,000 miles. UPDATE: January 2010: At 8,000 miles batteries are to weak to be useful anymore. The Quick Charge Charger failures, overcharging have shortened their life. Some of the risks, I guess. Will install LiFePo4 next. UPDATE: May, 2011 Ordered CALB Lithium batteries, sending Both Quickchargers to be programed to charge the Lithiums and making BMS decisions now. UPDATE: May 2011 Changed over to 130 amphour LiFePO4 CALBs. UPDATE: Installed Elithion BMS, can watch all voltages and temperatures but have the balance turned off for now. UPDATE: Attended EVCCON in September 2011. Drag raced and road course race. 20.2 seconds in quarter mile. www.saturn.lynnautorepair.com |
