Well-worn 25" cut riding mower that I traded for.

DrivetrainBasically stock. Blade drive pulley was changed to keep cutting speed the same. Perm motor on 48V runs at 2300 rpm versus stock engine at 3500rpm.
Controller
Two Albright SW-80 contactors are used. The starting contactor is in series with (2) paralleled 2-ohm resistors to limit inrush. Then the run contactor can be switched.

I measured the killowatt-hours to recharge the battery using a Brand Electronics 20-1850 power meter. It uses less than 2.5 KWh for my 1/4 acre lot, which takes about an hour to finish. That's less than $0.25 per cut.
