Owner | Hunter Cook | ||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Location | Springfield, Missouri United States map | ||||||||
Vehicle | 1984 Chevrolet S10 shortbed pickup | ||||||||
Motor | Advanced DC FB1-4001 Series Wound DC 9" | ||||||||
Drivetrain | 4-speed manual with no clutch. | ||||||||
Controller | Curtis 1231C 144v/400A | ||||||||
Batteries | 24 Trojan T105, 6.00 Volt, Lead-Acid, Flooded Trojans are the best floodies around. I've only cycled these about 30 times, so they are at their peak performance. | ||||||||
System Voltage | 144 Volts | ||||||||
Charger | Russco 18-120 SO Early model (1997 I think) purchased used. Has a boost transformer to get it up to 144v. Digital voltage readout has stopped working, but the dials are set right for a full charge and there's a voltmeter in the cab. | ||||||||
Heater | Ceramic. Works pretty well. | ||||||||
DC/DC Converter | PowerSource PC30 | ||||||||
Instrumentation | 1 each analogue voltmeter and ammeter, plus speedometer and odometer. Also there is a tach controller and sensor on the motor, and I have the gauge/wiring in a bag but not installed. | ||||||||
Top Speed | 60 MPH (96 KPH) That's as fast as I've had it so far. On the right road with a freshly charged pack I'm pretty sure it could go faster. But it took a while to get up there, and usually I don't drive it any faster than 45mph. | ||||||||
Acceleration | Not great, but not terrible either. I can keep up with traffic in town most of the time, but gas cars have no trouble outrunning me. | ||||||||
Range | 30 Miles (48 Kilometers) This is in a pretty normal 30-ish mph around town scenario. By the time it's gone 30 miles, the performance degradation is getting pretty severe. I'm sure if you held it at a steady 20mph on a flat road you could go much farther, just as you could probably use it up in no time at 60+. | ||||||||
EV Miles |
| ||||||||
Seating Capacity | 3 adults, more in the bed ;-) | ||||||||
Curb Weight | 4,400 Pounds (1,999 Kilograms) Estimate. | ||||||||
Tires | round | ||||||||
Additional Features | Wooden bed tilts up to get at the batteries underneath...if you're strong enough or have a jack. I have a couple lift cylinders, but not installed. CD stereo. Better shocks and Firestone airbags have been added to the suspension. Sunroof on top. Slick looking metallic blue paint job, black bumper, and chromed grill. None of that really comes out right in the pics. Power brakes with a 12v vacuum pump. | ||||||||
This is my woody. It's a lot of fun. |
