This scooter was very rare as they only made 14" scooters for a short time. Finding replacement tires was a major hassle. I chopped the frame and added about a foot of length to make room for the battery and motor and still have room to stand. I ended up salvaging this scooter for parts because it was just too dangerous. The wheels were made of plastic, and only one type of tire was available. The tires were not up to the task of supporting the weight of the scooter plus the weight of the rider, and they would get very warm. The last time it was ridden the front tire had a catastrophic failure. Fortunately the tire failed at low speed, but if it had happened at 40 mph, serious injuries would have been a certainty. If I were to make another scooter capable of such speeds, I would use motorcycle type tires and brakes instead of the bicycle grade stuff that this scooter used. |
